Well, I have a dead rat living in the wall of my bedroom. I told maintenance about it before it was dead and they did not want to remove it. So, no, pest control is not very good.

trash pickup is in the wee hours of the morning, and that is probably anywhere else, too. But they are in and out quickly.
I suggest you ask for an apartment far away from the dumpsters if you are a lite sleeper. As for pests, I have never had a pest issue at any apartment in austin, tx except for the occassional ant when they are looking for water in the heat of summer and decide to come indoors for a drink ...a lot depends on how clean you keep your own apartment and keep food sealed or put away and take out your trash frequently. AND let them treat your apartment periodically for pests.
