What are some ways I can stop or severly delay an eviction process?

I want to make it as hard as possible for my landlord to evict me. I don't think I can stop him, I just want to make it as expensive, slow, and difficult as possible.

pay your rent to the courts, that is the only way. make complaints in writing to the judge if you have them. But the only way it to pay to the courts, non-payment of rent is the fastest way to be thrown out of any apartment or house. You have no recourse then. I think making it hard for a landlord with no reason is silly but if you really have a reason then do it right. The judge will listen if you have asked for repairs and he didn't do them, he will listen if you follow the rules and pay the rent to the court. Every judge is different but most understand some landlords are just plain bad.

If your sign a lease, know what you sign. It's in writing.

No one can "one up" another, sadly, the day when a handshake was a man's word, we know have a lease agreement between 2 parties.

Stupid doesn't count anymore...you signed.

Well wouldn't that be stupid on your behalf?

The easiest way to evict someone on the landlord's behalf if for the tenant to be deliquent with a failure to pay rent.

You need to pay it or else the apartment complex will send it to a Corp. office and it could really effect your credit to an extreme.

Although you think that you would be winning by making it where they didn't get their money, in the long run, you STILL have to pay them and you will receive bad credit reports!

Grow up and take responsibility for your actions as I am guessing your eviction is due to you and lack of payments or too many lease violations.

If I were your apartment manager, I would send it to corp. right now.

You need to file an answer to the eviction with the courts. That may buy you a little time but if you owe rent you've got no chance in this one. Also, be prepared to pay for the landlord's attorney's fees.

I agree with you that if you dint pay your rent you can get into trouble,,I do not know your situation why you want to delay the eviction? but my situation is different,,I took my land lord to civil court not to delay my eviction..au contraire I am dying to get out from this gueto. I am not the only one in the LATROBE witholding rent in an escrow account bank, most of the tenant are doing the same..and some just leave, without paying a dime..my case is very bad because of false promises/discrimination/harassment/my pattern for my design was destroyed from 7 over flood, material from France for my design was stolen from front desk..promised me to investigate never did..my only hit one design coat also disappeared..promised me to gave me back my money, they never did..and most of all they have destroyed my private life/my business/and my health...I do have proof..documents/tapes/video/ witnesses you name it..I don't even need a lawyer ..once in the civil court all I have to do is show pictures /play tapes/videos/of all the contractors /management/inspectors /doctors documents/neighbors/staff/manager/security/I have a video tape of a worker coming to my place with out my presence and took the tags from the wires placed by Verizon.. will subpoenas all the workers..for sure management will go to jail/for false promises and advertisement/lies etc etc etc ..I did not have any hot water or air conditioner/or land phone/or heat/or new tub/or new place /or working appliances/i have lead/mold/most of all is that all of my repaires conot be repair because the building is defective..and so my apt..there fore my problems are not fixable and cant be fixable...the place is worthless, .do not live at LATROBE..AT this very moments we having over flood in all the building and this is every week..the list is too long to mention the problems at LATROBE..with out mentioning mousse rats..construction/broken pipes..I even went to mayor office and they are investigating the building construction / next week I am going to see the council for ward 2..the the city paper..LATROBE is a ripoff and some one need to stop them...even when I hope soon move out I will continue to purssue LATROBE until dc housing close down the building and do a real renovation..I just sent this week 57 letters to all the investors of AIMCO Including the chaimain of the board terry considine in Colorado...so if you dont have any problems and just dont want to pay rent thats illigal..but if you have my problems and they canot be fixed like mine then you can sue for your money back and damages..good luck..

Funny the last place I lived in and out of very quickly was owned my AMICO and I live in Tampa Florida, They are now suiting me for crap in the amount of over $500, and yet we never had any repairs done or a spa that working when I moved in. I was there 11 month's and had to put up with the same things. Gates that never worked, cabinets that were water damamged, falling apart and like I said the spa didn't work from day one and still doesn't. They finally got rid of the manager here who's husband was arrested for selling Cocaine, large amounts and she was high all the time. Nasty to everyone but made everyone scared for some reason but us.
A new owner bought the company out and I think the company should go under, but I hope you win in court first. Please let us know the outcome. Thanks Maxine

This is very interesting. Somehow, I think in due time, your landlord will have the last laugh.

Pay YOUR RENT...

Why would you want to make it so difficult? What exactly is your gripe it sounds like you need to grow up and stop taking advantage. Either comply with the rules or leave.

how much time does a landlord have to give you when he serves an eviction notice

Check out rentlaw.com they got information on evictions for every state. In most states, as long as the landlord complies with the general rules - you are OUT. The courts like things in writing and pictures to support. You can't win jsut because you didn't bother to pay. Especially if you've been evicted in the past. Not always the landlord.

offer to pay whatever you owe in full plus the eviction court cost which are roughly between 200-300 bucks this will stop the eviction process.so long as the landlord agrees.make sure you get a reciept!!!!

yeah tenants rights are great...we have the right to with hold paying landlords if they do not fix things that are extremely important in a timely manner etc...but they also can evict you for not paying...go figure. Here is the deal if your situation is something like that... sorry but you have to get a lawyer there is no way for the average joe to win against slum lords without one even with one you can still lose. Tenant rights really don't mean anything unless you can pay out the butt for a very pricey lawyer. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Your best bet if your landlord won't fix things is to get a lawyer to get you out of your lease early and just pay rent until you can get out. If you have truly valid complaints you might win some of your money back and the apts might have to pay your legal fees or part of it.
