I absolutely felt safe during my time there (2006-2008). You could walk outside barefoot to pick up your mail or go to the car, take your trash out and leave the door propped open I never had any safety concerns at all. One night I went out shopping. The next morning, as I was walking to my car to leave out for work, I saw one of my shopping bags on the steps. Apparently I had dropped it the night before on my way up to my apartment and no one bothered it. The steps are outdoors, mind you. That wouldn't happen in a lot of places.
