The roach issue has improved due to heavy insecticide treatments that management has implemented. Roaches are only seen once in a while in the kitchen area. Through a lot of trial and error of dealing with this issue, I don't believe that the apartments themselves are to blame for the roaches. Several units have tried covering their bathtub, bathroom and kitchen sink drains while not in use and have seen the roaches completely disappear. I believe the blame lies with the City of Tempe. What is suspect here is that this city obviously is not treating their sewer system enough or correctly. As a side note, The City of Phoenix has a very good and thorough protocol as to cleaning and treating their underground sewer system. Part of Tempe's lack of sewer system treatment could be due to the fact that these apartments are on the border of Tempe/Mesa and this probably causes lack of treatment due to each city pointing fingers at each other as to who should shoulder the expense of man-hours of cleaning and treating it. A formal complaint was filed with the City of Tempe in April of '09 regarding this issue. No response of corrective action has been given by the City as of to date.
Vandalism has subsided. Either the culprits have moved out, or have given it a rest.....for now.
