What is up with pet rent? If pet rent, why not kid rent?



The reason I want to ask why so many apartment complexes have the audacity to jump on this "pet rent" bandwagon is: do these people have any real reason other than they see the profit they can make off this scam? From my experience children have been much more destructive than any of my pets and I think the $25 per pet most of these complexes are asking for is preposterous. Asking for a deposit is acceptable. But PET RENT!??!
