what should I do if my Landlord refuses to return my deposit



I left an apt that I didn't like and it was clean. But they never sent me a letter stating that they were not going to return my deposit. I wrote them a letter informing them that if they didn't return my deposit with in 10 days that I would take them to court. They had there lawyer contact me saying that I owe them last months rent, but I paid this money to the agency that they forwarded my debt to.
