I'm not 100 percent sure but I believe that it's to protect the management from people who say that they gave their rent check to the office but didn't really do it. It was a little inconvenient for me when I lived there too sometimes. But I did make sure I sent the rent money to PO box and I never had any problems with it being lost in the system. If ever you should wonder if your rent was delivered to the owners you could always ask Sharon, the resident manager and she could look up that information for you and have the owners send you a log of the payments that were received from you. I was a little skeptical too, but it all was on the up and up.
