Please can some body help me out i am in afix after reading the reviews i am scared to move in ...is the mangement taking steps to improve it?
In my opinion, things are only getting worse. Recent example: The parking situation is still terrible. The Legacy at Mayland site advertises a "car care center", however the hose has recently disappeared and one of the vacuum cleaners doesn't work.
Building maintenance is the only thing that was ever done correctly, so no leakage. But bugs were abundant. The niceness of the apartment itself is not worth the harassment of management. They do NOT take care of their good tenants.
I lived there for one year, but couldn't take anymore. The day I came to move-in, trucks were loaded, they informed me I needed a cashier's check. Where do you get a cashier's check on Saturday??? So, I can pay the remaining rent by personal check, but not the first rent payment? Weird!!! It would have been nice if someone told me!! Also, parking has been & will continue to be a huge problem. They really don't care. As long as they have people who don't look at this site, or trust the opinions of the site, they will continue to make $$$.
I never have bugs, but most of the rats were in the office. They will tell you lots of things that aren't true. Sometimes they won't tell you anything at all, b/c they never answer the phone.
The pools were nasty, all the time. The complex boasts "two pools", but only one was open when I lived there. You had to pay $1 for guests, my boyfriend got hounded for $. If I pay $800+ for rent, my boyfriend should be able to accompany me to the pool---FOR FREE~~
Someone drove through the double doors in one the apartments. The apartment was boarded up for 6 months before the complex fixed the issue. It looked horrible! I felt like I lived in downtown Richmond. I found glass, bricks, condoms, beer bottles, etc....outside my door at least once a week.
This place is owned by Dominion Properties, they own lots of horrible complexes all over Richmond. You have other options....find them!!!
I think you need to take into consideration that MOST of the people who keep up with these types of sites are angry, and want to get back at the apartment complex staff in some way.
I keep up with it because I used to work at a much smaller complex when I lived in NC and I like to check in on how people are rating IT. I happen to have this one linked to my email as well. Whatever you do, research a number of apartments before choosing one. You may want to consider driving through the complex(es) and actually asking tenants who are out and about what they think.
Good luck!
(Also, I have been to the pool this summer, and they are no longer charging for guests... yay! But the pools were both pretty disgusting yesterday afternoon. One was closed and the other looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time, despite the fact that they close both pools on Monday for "maintenance." This was disappointing. :(
