Does anyone have anything ok to say about Lake Shore Plaza? Do you really feel unsafe? Is floor 12 ok?

I have lived here for three months now and I was also very concerned with all the comments I saw on here before moving in and unfortunately by the time I had seen them I already signed the lease... I have to say in the three months I have been here I have not had one single complaint with the leasing staff (other than being a little strange) or the building maintenance what so ever. I had some water damage on my ceiling from the unit above me and they had it all fixed within three days and dry cleaned all my bed sheets and comforter for me for free. Other than that I haven't really had any need for their services but just keep in mind that 90% of the people that post on these sites do so because something happened to piss them off, most people who are happy with the place wont take the time to write a review. Hopefully my experience isn't the only exception...

our-friend-brett is right in that the majority of people who post will only do so if/when they are PO'd. That said, my experience was so horrific that I thought it was an aberration. However, I believe that hearing multiple agreements/corroborations that point towards the same root cause(s) are worthy of consideration and certainly indicate a trend. Tread carefully.

Last week someone was moving out and 3 days before the due date the engineer entered the apartment and took things (computer among other things ) out of the apartment without checking if the place was already vacant, the tenant still had the apartment for 3 days more so they left some stuff still in the place to find out that someone took their stuff, I was told that they offer to return the computer to the owner but the owner its furious. I'll be too. I think this place needs a lot of work to get to the level of others buildings around there. to many complains huge ones not acceptable issues in any building in Chicago, I searched about other buildings around, not a single complaint or serious one like this place.
Hopefully by now lake shore its trying hard to get better witch I doubt. Thanks God for those who take the time to let us know about this things.

No, its not so unsafe but its just not a nice place to live. Smoke seeps into my apartment continuously. The elevators are always dirty even though they change the carpet frequently. I've seen domestic violence. I had to report my neighbor for frequently locking out her child--I would find the child in the hallway crying (this happened at least 10 times). I could go on and on. I reported one situation to the police and the officer wasn't surprised and informed me there have been many investigations of people in our building. If you really want to know what goes on here, just call the police and ask about the building. Oh yeah, I read one comment that said the only thing good here is the lack of insects. Not true. I had ants coming through the baseboards in my bathroom. How was it fixed? Not by killing the ants. They just sealed the baseboards meaning there are still lots of bugs in the walls. Occasionally an ant still gets through the cracks in the bathroom. Anyway, just go to McClurg Court-its only half a block away-even if its a little more money!! I've lived here for 4 years on multiple floors and wish that I had been more motivated to move earlier (I'm moving in a month). Don't make the same mistake we all did.
