marijuana smoke from air conditioner

Asked 247 days ago

It started a month ago.
My husband and I noticed that marijuana smoke from air conditioner in my bedroom.
We have 5years old boy sleeping together, so I am worrying about him.
But,we are't sure where smoke come from. and it always start around 10pm through 6am.
I've already talk to management office and they made flyer which did't say about marijuana, it says only order/smoke.
We had smoke last night.
I called police,and they came.
But,they didn't do anything.
I don't know what to do.

It is probalbly in your lease somewhere that another tenant cannot cause health problems to you. It is considered a lease violation. Unfortunately, most managers do not want to deal with it. We had the same problem with 2nd hand smoke which put me in respitory arrest and in the hospital. We notified the Health Department and other legal authorities and even though we fought it, they took great pleasure in retaliating by dropping lease violations on US. We were told by the Health Department and other government agencies and our lawyers to just get out and find a better place, Interview the management before you rent. I had to move into a hotel until we found a townhouse in a caring community which does not tolerate 2nd hand smoke. Sorry I could not help you more.

Its been proven that CIGARETTE smoke causes health hazards but not marijuana smoke. It's a touchy subject about marijuana because alot of people have it for medicinal use now. You have to prove that there is ILLEGAL USE otherwise a landlord cannot stop someone form smoking in the privacy of their home. Prohibiting patients to use their "medication" could cause a violation in medical rights which override lease agreements.

This falls on the landlord to fix. They need to pinpoint where the smoke is coming from and seal it.
