I was on the third floor so I didn't hear anything obviously... but my neighbors below me complained at times and I KNOW I wasn't very loud... so I assume the walls and floors are pretty thin. I also had a roommate who had excellent credit and mine is ok so we didn't have any issues, however, you may need a cosigner and sometimes they require your salary be at least 3-5 times higher than the yearly rent total (i.e. $10,000 yr for rent: you must make between $30,000-$50,000).
