Asked 190 days ago

the apartments are not safe, there was a murder in the next building. Also things are not being fixed- the dishwasher, the sink and toilet get stopped up all the time, etc

It is not the responsibility of the mangement company to keep apartments "safe". It is their responsibility, however, to fix items the require fixing! Start documenting all of the items that are in disrepair and all of the dates and times you have called in to have them repaired. If you can prove a history of their failures you may have a shot in getting out of the lease without having to go to court etc..

Agree with the first answer. Write down what is broken and the date. Keep presenting a list of broken items to the leasing office (perhaps weekly) and note the date each time it's reported. Then you'll have a track record which should stand up in court (if needs be).

Send a written request, certified mail usually gets their attention ( also is proof they received your request for repairs) according to your lease agreement,it should be fixed in a timely manner.

If it gets fixed and the toliet stops up once again, all management can do is come back again, and make the repairs again.

Contact your local police on the safety issue. If your local police can't keep the place safe, why would you expect your apartment manager to do so?
