Hi, I am a female grad student. I think that living in Syracuse is like living in any big city. You always have to have your wits about you. I think this year there are moe undergrads living here than last. So it tends to be a bit noisier however, I do not feel unsafe or always looking behind my shoulder. Don't get caught up in the hype that living in neighborhoods in school are safer. The summer I came there was a spree of rapes and robberies. Chestnut Crossing is located on James Street a major road in Syracuse. On the lower part of James closer to downtown its a little sketchy, where CC is its normal, and further up it ritzy. I believe the locks are secure. All of the utilities are included so you can crank the heat up to 80 and be on the internet all day. They even have a little fitness center. I often use the treadmill. I usually do one of several things when I buy groceries: I go with a friend who lives around the block, I take the James Street bus to Wegman's, or I walk to Dominick's which is a neighborhood grocer nearby. Try to avoid P&C when you move here the quality of food is generally bad. I did not see my apartment either before I arrived. If you are going to be in a Maxwell grad program people are usually very friendly and will offer you rides to wherever you need to go. So don't be too worried about transportation.

Thank you again for your help. I was just approved and will be living in CC in June. So we will be neighbors :)
Thank you again!
