locked out of mailbox

Asked 105 days ago

How do you think I should proceed with manager locking me out of my mailbox and lease is not up to end of April? Reported to code enforcement several times and this happened after calling fire department for heavy ammonia in building. Because of reporting this, renewing my lease not an option on her part. First, check w/ police to see if there are any local or federal laws being broken by the management. Second, if mgmt has a right to keep you from your mail, seems the only logical solution is to have mail sent elsewhere &/or get a PO Box. Third, if you have regular access to a secure computer, I suggest paying as many of your bills online as you can & requesting online statements.

thank you for responding. I do not want to waste energy in the situation. I know I can take it legally. Posting the horrific living environment the way it is is great publicity. I know the apartment complex loses in the long run. I have forwarded mail to PO Box. Not everyone is as unintelligent as the half breed running the place with a junior high education. Miss Oreo.

Definitely call the police. Your mailbox is actually really not their property.

You are entitled to your mail. What does your mail even have anything to do with the apartment office anyways?

Call the police because this is ILLEGAL!

Your lease isn't up until April but have you vacated the apartment? If you left the apartment they have every right to change the locks on the mailbox.

I have not left my apt. Paying rent until the end of Apr. There daily. Locked out due to retaliation.

They shouldn't have any control over your mail but they might if the mailboxes actually belong to them.

This is a federal offensive..you need to contact the post master immediately! Also, the post office can re-key your lock if you call them and pay a small fee.
