Berkshires at Citrus Park...What's it like at these apts?

Asked 56 days ago

I'm trying to decide where I should relocate my family in FL and want to make sure that I'm in a safe area as I have an 11 month old baby...I would like to stay with my current property management company the Berkshire, but I've heard some "scary" things mentioned about their properties in FL...just wanted to know from current or prior renters what their experience was like living here so that if it's bad, I don't move there!! thanks so much!!!

We lived on the first floor and a noisy neighbor moved in about 8 months into our lease. There's not really anything you can do about that if you move into a complex that was built with frame. The only solution is to move into one that is concrete, but the downside to that is they are usually older. I never heard flushing toilets or anything, and I would say it's definitely not ghetto. Anyone who tells you otherwise has never even explored the rest of the Tampa Bay area. You could always request to be on the 3rd floor in the back of the building. That's probably your quietest location. Also if you get a 1 or 2 bedroom, you will not be in a building with larger families. The floorplan you choose definitely determines your location within the complex.

The interior of apartment are very nice, however, the noise level leaves much to be desired. There is no area for children to play, ie; playground, volleyball, etc. Some tenants threatened other tenants and management did nothing to those that caused the harm. Good luck!

i would say that this property is one of the safer, and it's in a good area. not fancy like some areas (westchase, for example), but DEFINITELY not ghetto. my husband and i have lived here 2 years and we're renewing our lease for a 3rd year. the noise level is not bad, compared to other properties we've lived at, and the property is kept clean. the management team is awesome, and maintenance is good, too. oh, we're on the first floor.

the only "bad" things we've encountered:

- when we first moved in, our building (and, we assume, most of the buildings) had a brown widow spider problem. i let the office know, and maintenance, and it got taken care of. they were mostly outside, but we found a few in our apartment -- of course, our unit had been empty for a month before we moved in, because we couldn't move in as soon as it was available.

- on our side of the complex (the side with only 1 & 2 br units), the parking situation is less than spectacular. we're in the very last building, too, so it's particularly bad back here, since there is a limited number of spaces.

otherwise, we've been VERY happy here. the complex is gated, the staff is friendly and the property is attractive... all in a decent area (there is a Super WalMart directly across the street that creates a little bit of a traffic issue, though), but the price is reasonable. we looked at MULTIPLE properties before we decided on Berkshires, and the few that were much nicer / in "fancy" areas were WAY more expensive, and the ones that were any cheaper were either really old, poorly managed, or in bad areas (sometimes all three!).

i highly recommend Berkshires to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, nice apartment in a good area.

I have lived here for 6 months now, and I am not that impressed. I live on the second floor in a 2 bd, and my neighbors above me are so loud! It sounds like the floor is about to fall through. I HAVE and still do hear it every time someone flushes the toilet. It drives me crazy! I told my husband that we are NOT renewing our lease. The area is nice, though, and not ghetto. Some of the tenants are scary looking. I have heard people blasting their music at 4 in the morning, and loud people outside arguing at 3 in the morning. The airplane noise is also very, very bad. I hear every plane that goes by. They are really low too, as we are close to the airport. People haul ass in the parking lot as well. We had to write a complaint the other day for one person. I am currently pregnant and scared to death to walk around the parking lot, for fear of getting run over. My husband and I looked at lots of other apartments, and only settled on this one because it is near the Veteran's expressway (which he needs for work). There are a lot more nicer, comparable apartments not that much further away. Look into Citrus Falls. They are very nice, and I know some folks that live there and love it. Oh, also, the cabinets in my unit smell horrible! Oh my gosh. I can't believe it. My last apartment complex was great, but it was in Town and Country. I never expected to hate these apartments so much. The insides aren't that nice either.
