Potomac Heights, MD Security

Asked 196 days ago

I'm considering moving in to these apts. Now they are Berkshire Harbor Place, after reading all reviews...IM SCARED! I like the apartment a lot, it is very roomy, it is one of the renovated ones, all new appliances plus washer and dryer....However, I feel like security and safety it's not that great...do cars get broken into?? Does anyone brake into the apts?? I dont like the fact the front door is not locked, anyone can get in...has that been a problem in the past?? What about roaches and mice?? Please I will be soooo thankful if i get a response. Thanks!!!

Last summer, cars were broken into just about every night. The security guard that drives around would usually be in some females apt, tryin to get his groove on. Apts were broken in to all the time, especially in the 900's. I never saw any roaches or mice in my apartment. But mgmt is HORRIBLE and safety is a major concern. Run, not walk!!!

The apartments are very nice. But you're right, the security is not that great and it does not seem to be a priority of the property management company. I moved this past December and never had my apartment broken into...THANK GOD. But, I know a few people who did. My best suggestion is to get good apartment insurance and do the best you can by securing your apartment. I got a good chain lock and I put a bottom lock on my door and felt reasonably secure.

Jbank05:

That sounds like a good idea, the extra locks for the door...What about your car?? does it look like Berkshire is cleaning up the place or not really? Also could you tell me what building you are in?

While living their in 2006 my car was broken into about 5 times and towed once. The apartment itself is nice and roomy but, management sucked and they did construction on something everyday. Apt building 914 had sunken in on one side( glad it was not the side I lived on) and every one on that side had to move. Maintenance is a pain. They take forrrreeevvveerr to fix things. Oh did I mention they steal TOO...If you can deal with that its a great location and nice apt.
