How's living in Barcroft Plaza?
I am concerned about the reviews of this place. How are the buildings and how's the management of this place?

I will also speak out that I love Barcroft Plaza! And I am not part of the management nor do I have any reason to defend them! I think Diana has gone out of her way to make us feel comfortable. And yes there can be noise from the kids but if you really don't like that, go to a community with no children. We have a 10-year-old and are expecting a new baby so I was pleasantly surprised to find there were so many children in the community. If I didn't like kids, I would probably be a little annoyed.
All of the office staff are quick to fix anything. My apartment was SPOTLESS when I moved in and I think they always redo the carpets so I don't know how it could have been stained. Anything that we've asked to have fixed or looked at has been taken care of that day or the day following.
And for the record, Diana might be strict but I'd rather have a manager who cares about the property and doesn't put up with bs than one who lets the place go to heck!
And at night the place is very quiet. On the weekends in the mornings the only noise I hear is the birds flying to barcroft lake. Sure there is a fire department nearby but you are going to find sirens and street noise lots of places.

Disregard this person, the fire department nearby makes a lot of noise, do you like to wake up every day with sirens blaring?
There was a fire here a few weeks ago. This Diana manager did not even bother to send anyone a note about it later emphasizing the fire safety. That same weekend there were people having barbecues in their backyards (which is against the rules). Where was Diana?? AWOL! This place sucks, don't move here!

The cause of the fire was someone smoking in their bed! Do people really need a message to let them know that is stupid? It sounds like a no-brainer to me. Just let me say-thank goodness the fire department was close by for that! And from what I understand, you may have BBQ's on the ground around the community-just not on your patio.
I have lived many places in DC and VA (Van Ness, Convention Center, Courthouse, Crystal City) and this is one of the most quiet as far as traffic noise. I am an extremely light sleeper and it is ridiculous to say that sirens wake you up EVERY morning. Do I love to be woken up at any time by emergency sirens?-no...however, I've lived places where just the street noise itself woke me up (busses, trucks etc.) let alone emergency sirens, and that is not the case here.
